Overah Hails Journalists In Sapele On Fight Against COVID-19

The Hon. Commissioner representing the good people of Sapele, Ethiope West, and Okpe local government areas on the Board of DESOPADEC has commended the efforts of members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sapele Correspondents’ Chapel in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hon. Joyce Overah while playing host to members of the fourth estate of the realm said that the Union has done well in partnering with the state government to sensitize the people on the dreaded virus.
Speaking further, Hon. Overah enjoined journalists to be objective in their criticism whenever it was necessary for them to do so, stressing that they are the watchdog of the society and as such, must at all times uphold the truth.
The Chairman of the Union, Comrade Godwin Oghre, responding, thanked the Hon. Commissioner for taking out time to receive members of the NUJ Sapele Chapel, while describing him as one of the most media friendly personality in Sapele local government area.
He commended him for his accessibility, noting that the Union is very proud to be associated with him as he has distinguished himself particularly against the background of his welcoming nature– a characteristic that is rare among political office holders.
Comrade Joe Amina, who also spoke in the same vein appreciated Hon. Joyce Overah for his hospitable nature, saying that he has known the Hon. Commissioner for over fifteen years, especially for his humility and good disposition to the press.
Queen Stephanie Ikanone who also added her voice said journalists in the ares will continue to work in synergy with leaders who are ready to put Sapele Local Government Area in positive light to the world.
Members of the Union who were present during the visit include; Comrade Hope Akenzua, Comrade Nelson Agbajor, Comrade Rita Daniel and Comrade Paul Olayemi.
Others include Comrade Vwaire Valerie Oyibotie, Comrade Uyono Esada, Comrade Austin Kwuebe, Comrade Henry Akporero, and Comrade Dorothy Egwe.
