Agadama Youth Leader Died A Hero, Left A Legacy Behind–UPU Youthwing President

The President of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Youthwing, Comrade Efemena Umukoro, has described the late Sunday Iniovogoma as a hero, adding that the fallen youth leader left behind a legacy.

Umukoro spoke to journalists at the weekend in Agadama Community during the burial ceremony of Sunday Iniovogoma

Speaking further, he said: “The ceremony was one of sorrow. We cannot question God; He knows best and in His own time He will avenge the death of Sunday.

“Sunday has done his own part and we are to continue from where he stopped. But, the noble question on my mind today is when you die what next; what will people remember you for? What legacies will you live behind? Sunday has a left a great legacy behind.

“He died as a hero of Urhobo nation. He died as a selfless Urhobo youth leader and he is remembered for that today.

“The question I have for our leaders today is what will people remember you for? Will people remember you that when you were alive there was division in Urhobo land? Or that you ate money meant for road contracts? Will people remember you that when you were alive is when Fulani herdsmen took control of Urhobo land? What will people remember you for? That should be the question on the lips of our leaders presently.”

He added: “This is not time to be merry. I remember when the Fulani herdsmen attacked Agadama community. I was very afraid and had to call Late Sunday in the night that he should sleep in Ughelli and go back first thing the next morning. My plan was to mobilse security operatives to the community in the morning. But, to my surprise, his response was what happens to the aged men and women, the youths and children if he flees.”

According to him, the ceremony was one of pain and sorrow, saying that “it is a terrible day in the history of Urhobo nation.”

He continued: “We believe that the law enforcement agencies are on the issue and will be able to unravel the mystery behind the explosion that took the life of Sunday.

“When the police are done with their investigation, we will know the next line of action.”

He prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, as he assured Agadama community that UPU will stand with them in this trying period.

Furthermore, he commended the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who was represented by two of his legislative aides, Hon Barr Igho Arhagba and Hon Itama Daniel, President General of Uwheru Community, SSA to the State Governor on Youth Mobilisation, Cassidy,
Ohoror Youth President, Alex Egedegbe aka Sagboga, Comrade Emese Andrew, acting President of Agadama Community, Ochuko Stephen and others that came around to pay their last respect to the youth leader.

Meanwhile, Umukoro also commended the youths in the community for carrying themselves in a peaceful manner despite the provocation to take laws into their hands.

According to our investigation, UPU youthwing sponsored 65 percent of the burial cost.
