The party in a letter stated that Prince Afegbua was suspended for the period of one month to save the party from further damage.
State Press Secretary. Chris Osa Nehikhare, in a statement on Sunday said Afegbua was found guilty of anti-party activities.
He said the State Chairman of the party, Tony Aziegbemi had also directed the local government chairman of Etsako East to set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the allegations against Afegbua.
Nehikhare said the composition of the disciplinary committee is expected to be announced soon.
He added: “This is long in coming for Afegbua’s gross anti-party activities. I thought it is better for me not to be too forward but rather to wait and see what actions the party will consider necessary to be taken against someone who is bent on derailing the party by working for the opposition.
“Edo State PDP should not waste time before setting up the disciplinary panel to investigate the allegations as soon as possible.”
