Senate President, Lawan Sponsors Weddings Of 300 Couples In Yobe
President of the Senate, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, has offered to sponsor the weddings of 300 couples in his constituency which comprise Bade, Jakusko, Machina, Yusufari, Nguru and Karasuwa local government areas.
A statement by his Special Assistant (Press), Ezrel Tabiowo, said beneficiaries must be of marriageable age and with nobody or means at all to finance their wedding.
He said the Senate President decided to foot the bills in response to the appeals made to him by some parents during his previous visits to his constituents in Yobe North.
According to the statement, the first of the three-phase wedding begins today in strict adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols, involving one hundred couples from Bade and Jakusko local government areas.

Another one hundred intending couples from Nguru and Karasuwa local government areas are also expected to be wedded in the Second Phase; while another hundred would be drawn from Machina and Yusufari local government areas for the third phase.
Lawan paid the dowries of the first one hundred couples and provided them with furniture and household items. The 300 couples to be wedded were drawn from 60 wards in the six local government areas of Yobe North Senatorial District.
