DTSG Recognizes Igbuku Traditional Stool 15 Years After

Igbuku Kingdom in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, now has a government recognised traditional ruler after 15 years interregnum following the presentation of a staff of office to Isaac Erube Uvo as the Uzu II of Igbuku Kingdom by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro at Igbuku town in a funfair celebration, commended the peace among the people which resulted in the choice of the new royal father.

Governor Okowa on the occasion, urged the people of Igbuku Kingdom to be united, while charging the new monarch to be an exemplary leader and as well preserve the cultural heritage of his people.

Furthermoe, he advised the royal father to boost the community’s agricultural produce by tapping into the Delta State Government policies and programmes on agriculture, as well as micro credit facilities to enhance the local economy.

He also advised the kingdom to take seriously, the adherence to COVID-19 protocols, emphasising that the low cases recorded recently should not be the reason to be nonchalant about the dreaded virus which he said, was still ravaging the world.

The governor added: “As you are aware, since this administration came on stream, we have remained consistent in the inclusion of our traditional rulers in the scheme of things, in view of their vast backgrounds, experience, training and exposure, which have no doubt, contributed immensely to the maintenance of peace and harmonious co-existence towards the development of our society.”

Earlier in an address presented by Chief Denis Egwe Agad Etaluku, the Iyasele and Osogba of Igbuku Kingdom said, since the past 15 years when the battle of the possible successor to the throne was on, the community had remained peaceful.

He requested that the government of Senator Ieanyi Okowa whom he said had a listening ears, should construct a two kilometres community expansion road, rehabilitate the completed water projects built and abandoned by NDDC, rehabilitate their town hall and construct the four kilometre Igbuku (Ndokwa East) -Ofagbe ( Isoko North ) Road, which he noted, needed only one culvert.

On his part, the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Hon. Juan Governor, said that he was elated the event took place during his administration and time.

He remarked further, “We are here today as we celebrate the product of the joint effort of every member of the Ekegu and Elu ruling houses as well as the Delta State Traditional Rulers committee under the Chairmanship of our amiable daddy, the Obi of Owa, His Royal Majesty, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor, the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa and the office of the Deputy Governor.”

He added, “Please allow me to express my sincere gratitude to Your Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, distinguished members of Deputy Governor’s entourage, His Royal Majesty, The Ozu of Igbuku Kingdom, leaders of this community for offering me the opportunity to participate in this event.”
