Asaba: Ikuku Emerges Delta NUJ Correspondents’ Chairman
The Correspondent of the New Telegraph in Delta state, Comrade Dominic Adewole Igbekoyi a.k.a IKUKU, has emerged chairman of the Asaba Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in the state.
Dominic emerged after a keenly contested election between him and the Asaba Correspondent of The Nation Newspapers, Comrade Okungbowa Aiwerie.
The third contestant for the position, Comrade Victor Sorokwu, the state Correspondent of the Daily Trust, stepped down for Dominic, whom he referred to as ‘my son’ few second to the contest.

Dominic pulled 22 votes to win the seat from the 27 total valid votes while Okungbowa scored five.
The state council chairman, Comrade Mike Ikeogwu, supported by his Secretary, Comrade Patrick Ochei, and the outgone Chairman, Comrade Paul Osuyi of the Sun Newspapers in Asaba hailed the peaceful conduct of the election that held today.
Dominic said he will not betray the confidence reposed in him by the massive votes.
He maintained that his 3-Point Consolidation Agenda of Capacity Building, Wealth Creation and Meaningful Professionalism remains sacrosanct.
While he commended the peaceful disposition of his predecessor to chapel issues, he called on members of the Union in the state to rally support for chairman of the state council in order to uplift the status of the Union in the state.
