IPAC Rebukes 48 Political Parties For Taking DSIEC To Court

The Inter-Party Advisory Council, Delta State Chapter led by its Chairman, Ambassador Peters Emuakpoje has rebuked “48 Political Parties” for taking DSIEC to court on what it described as “frivolous ground of exclusion from the forthcoming March 6 Local Government election in the State.”

Recall that IPAC, dissatisfied by the refusal of INEC to obey the Appeal Court ruling which nullified the de-registration of political parties in Nigeria had sought relief from the Federal High Court, Asaba to enforce their rights as political parties.

A statement signed by
Amb Peters Emuakpoje JP, Chairman and Fred Akpevwe, Secretary, said:
“However, after a careful appraisal of the situation which also included DSIEC as defendants, we decided to withdraw our case unconditionally to pave way for a better National pursuit of our quest to reclaim the said deregistered Political Parties.

“It is therefore surprising that some Political Party Chairmen claiming to have 48 Political Parties on their side have gone to the same Federal High Court seeking to prevent DSIEC from conducting the Local Government election until their Political Parties are included in the elections. We view this as an act of impunity and malice having initially withdrawn our earlier suit on behalf of the 74 de-registered Political Parties. Any Political Party not satisfied with the withdrawal application ought to have gone on appeal rather than go back to the same Federal High Court, Asaba in which there was a ruling by the trial judge.
In view of the above, we request all other Political Party Chairmen to dissociate themselves from these erring and unruly Party Chairmen who will be sanctioned for going to court without approval from IPAC.”
