Ogboru Urges Delta APC Members To Sheathe Swords, Support Membership Registration Exercise

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and the party’s governorship candidate in the 2019 elections, Chief Great Ovedje, has called on his supporters to sheathe their sword and ignore every form of provocation, as he urged party members in the state to support the ongoing party membership registration and revalidation.

Ogboru popularly referred to as The Peoples General spoke through his Public Relations Officer, Omolu Tony.

In a statement, he called on his supporters to “ignore those things capable of further exacerbating disunity and factionalisation” of the APC in the state.

He said: “Let’s go all out to mobilize for APC and ensure that at the end of the day, the vision of our President to allow the people determine their leadership will prevail.

“Remain ever faithful and run the APC race. As a party, with cooperation, understanding and unity, we shall get to our destination.”

The statement added: “Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru takes cognizance of the media claims and counter claims in respect of the unfortunate incident that took place in Asaba at the stakeholders meeting.

“You may recall that the People’s General had earlier issued a statement reproduced below on the need for peace and orderly behaviour at the meeting and subsequent processes to revalidate and register party members.

“Precisely, Prophet Jones Erue, the caretaker chairman and Chucks Erhire, and some others of similar extraction, took several man hours to wrongfully allege on both the print and social media, the involvement of Chief Great Ogboru in those altercations, both physical and verbal at the party secretariat, Asaba.”

According to the statement, “in the spirit of the earlier request by the People’s General to ensure peace and order, especially now, that the Party is carrying out this very important assignment for a new direction of participatory democracy, Great Ogboru urges all and sundry not to respond, good, bad or indifferent to all those campaigns of calumny against his person.”

He continued: “After all we are all one party members and Deltans. We know who we are and don’t need anyone to tell us about who, and what Ogboru stands for.”

This is to inform party stakeholders’ in Delta state that Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru will be unavoidably absent at the stakeholders’ meeting scheduled for tomorrow 3/2/2021.

The people’s general takes note of some irregularities in the composition of the stakeholders’ list and has assured party faithfuls and all believers of true light that these anomalies will be corrected. Chief Ogboru further enjoined loyal party members and stakeholders to mobilize en mass for the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise.

He also counseled party members to be peaceful and ensure that the exercise is a success to enable us have a strong and united party in the state going forward that will lay the foundation for an equitable and peaceful congress.
