Ogodo To Offer Indigent Students Scholarship In NOUN

Hon Moses Ogodo, the founding Chairman of the National Open University of Nigeria in Sapele, one time Chairman of Sapele Okpe Community and Delta State House of Assembly aspirant for Sapele constituency, on Monday said he had made arrangements to offer scholarship to indigent students at the newly commissioned National Open University study center in Sapele, adding that the gesture was his own little way of enhancing education in the vicinity.

Ogodo, who was speaking at the commissioning of the National Open University study centre along Akintola road in Sapele, said “I would have completed it but due to some circumstances, I was unable to finish it but thank God that I am part of those making history today; thank God that we have been able to put our differences apart.

He recalled his efforts in office, saying”I did some projects for education too and they are all glaring to see. I also embarked on other projects which are too numerous to mention but we thank God that this project of bringing an Open University was now a reality.

“I want to say I am the happiest man in the world. You are not too big to learn. When I first conceded the idea, some people felt it was impossible now we are commissioning it. Now we have a higher education in Sapele and I have also decided to offer scholarship to some indigents students who are willing to study in this open university in my little way of contributing to the enhancing of education”

The project was commissioned by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, ably represented by Prof. Uduma O. Uduma, and was built by the Sapele Okpe Community in conjunction with Seplat Petroleum Development Company, SPDC,

Those who attended the event include former Minister of Education, Prof Sam Oyevwaire, Delta State Commissioner of Education, Prof Patrick Mouboghare, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Monday Igbuya, Dr Patrick Akamovba, Chairman of Sapele Okpe Community, who completed the project, and representatives of the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, past and present executive of Sapele Okpe Community, management of Seplat Petroleum company, top local government functioneries and the creme de la crème of Okpe kingdom.
