Okpe Youth Council: New Executive Officers To Be Sworn In Saturday

Newly elected executive officers of the Okpe Youth Council (OYC) in Delta State will be sworn in at their ancestral home in Orerokpe come Saturday, 13th March, 2021 at 12 noon prompt.

In a statement by the Publicity Secretary of Okpe Youth Council, Worldwide, Comrade Samuel Okakuro Ekpo, said the venue of the swearing-in/ inauguration ceremony is at the open field of the Palace of themonarch, Orodje of Okpe kingdom at Orerokpe.

The statement enjoined all the people of Okpe kingdom at home and at abroad to grace the event and to give the new elected officers the needed cooperation for them to achieve the best for their people.

Those to be sworn in are, Mr Otomewo Israel (President), Mr Jarikre Belvin (Vice President), Mr Samuel Ekpo (Secretary), Mr Moses Odiete (Treasurer), Mr Itorho Precious (Public Relations Officer ), Mr Onomakpo Emubo, (Financial Secretary) and Sarah Ayomanor (Woman Leader).

Others are Obriki Matthew (Organizing Secretary), Okutele Edesiri ( Mobilisation Director), Iburu Ufuoma, (Welfare Director) and Ekeke Maureen (Assistant Woman Leader).

The Chairman, electoral committee, Mr Sunday Douglas Eremughelaye who addressed journalists shortly after announcing the names of the winners of the election, earlier at the Odogun hall in Orerokpe appreciated Almighty God for the success of the entire process.

He said: “I thank God for giving us the grace to conduct a very peaceful and successful election. I must commend the past executive officers for giving us the opportunity to serve in this capacity.”

The new President Mr Otomewo Israel, appreciated God Almighty for making it possible for him to climb the ladder of leadership in Okpe kingdom.

He assured that he “will operate an all inclusive form of government and do wider consultations with fellow executive officers” just like his predecessor did which made their tenure an eventful one.

He also commended the entire youths in the kingdom who supported him in attaining the position, appealing further for their cooperation and support to succeed.

Mr Eghagha Freeborn, one of the delegates of the election, commended the efforts of other delegates for their peaceful conduct, appealing that all the youths in the ancient kingdom should support the new administration to succeed.

Mr Eghagha advised the new excos to do wider consultation if they must succeed, stressing that “you can only succeed if you consult all stakeholders like your predecessor.”

Adding: “You should hit the ground running. Ekeleme was very active as a leader because he consulted widely.”

He advised the president to carry all his fellow executive officers along if Okpe Youth council must attain an enviable height.

An observer, Mr Benjamin Umukoro, described the entire electoral process as a very peaceful one devoid of the usual electoral malpractices and fraud.

He appreciated the electoral umpires for doing a very good job while commending the immediate past executive officers led by Mr Harrison Ekeleme for taking the entire Okpe kingdom to another higher level of growth and transformation.
