JUST IN: Police Uncover Fake Wine Factory In Delta, Arrest Owner

The Delta State Police Command, on Friday, discovered an illegal factory where fake alcoholic wine is produced at Ovwian in Udu Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, the Commander, State Anti Cult Unit (SACU), SP Christopher Igbaji, acting on intelligence gathered, mobilized operatives from SACU on a sting operation with the civilian anti-cult volunteer corps and arrested one Kenneth Ajie of Amadaga village who produces fake wines in his house for sale to the unsuspecting public.
Adding that with no operational license, he sells the wine for the sum of three hundred naira (#300) per bottle and three thousand, six hundred naira (#3,600) per carton.
Oasis Magazine (OM) learnt that the bottles containing the said product are the ones used by other brands disposed by consumers.

The suspect is quoted to have said that he buys the bottles at Ten naira (#10.00) per bottle, while he purchases the cork from the open market.
Ken claimed that he washes the bottles and corks the wines alone and then sells to members of the public, adding that he works alone and produces about one to three cartons per day.
Items recovered from the suspect include bottles of the drinks suspected to be fake alcoholic wine.
The police said the case is still under investigation.
