Police Arrest Two Kidnappers, Rescue Victim In Delta Community

Police in Delta State, have arrested two kidnappers in connection with the kidnap of one Peter Okologo, aged 26.

Peter, resident in Uvwie, Delta State, was kidnapped on Friday while in the company of his girlfriend at his residence.

Information made available by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Etaga Bright, said that on the 24th of April, 21, the DPO ‘A’ Division, Warri, CSP T.Y. Mahmud, received a complaint from a lady that her boyfriend was kidnapped why they were together at his residence at Nigercat, Ekpan in Uvwie.

It was learnt that one Ejiro John, aged 25 of Ogbori Community in Warri, led a group of armed men, with some of them alleged to be in military uniforms armed with guns and other weapons.

According to the lady, they stormed the house and whisked away her boyfriend after firing gun shots and took him to an unknown destination.

The police spokesman said: ”On the strength of the report, the DPO ‘A’ Division Warri, CSP T.Y Mahmud, mobilized the rapid respond team from the Division and swung into action immediately.”

He added: ”They arrested another suspect, one kingsley Omagbemi ‘m’ Age 25yrs. Both of them were the ones who led the kidnappers to the victim’s house where he was kidnapped. Police men visited the scene and recovered three empty shells. After thorough investigation and interrogation, the two suspects led the police team to Sapele, where the DPO, Sapele Division, CSP Harrison Nwabuisi also mobilized men from Sapele Division and joined force with men of ‘A’ Division Warri, where one David Isaac Mojo ‘m’ age 32yrs of No 12 Akintola street Sapele was arrested.

Continuing, he said that ”at the kidnappers den, the said David Isaac Mojo has already demanded the sum of one million naira as ransom. He was arrested as he came out to collect the said ransom, while one Alason ‘m’ surname unknown escaped with a black Toyota Camry; registration number unknown.

Bright said the kidnapped victim was rescued by the police, adding that the suspects are in custody while investigation is ongoing in order to arrest the other fleeing members of the gang.
