Police Arrest 40 Suspected Cult Members, Recover Pistol, Other Fire Arms In Delta

No fewer than 40 suspected members of a cult group were arrested while initiating new members on Friday, April 23, 2021, in Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State.

According to a statement by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Command, Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), acting on credible information and intelligence gathered over a period of time stormed the initiation ground where they arrested some youths suspected to be members of the Aye confraternity.

The cult group was carrying out initiation of new members at Ubulu-Unor bush in the said Local Government Area.

The police spokesman disclosed that when the police got to the scene, some armed men who claimed to be of Ubulu-Unor vigilante were seen keeping watch and aiding the said cultists to carry their initiation. They were also arrested.

Adding that a revolver pistol with eleven live ammunition, one locally made single barrel gun, one pump action, eight vehicles and one Mitsubishi pickup with the inscription of Ubulu-Unor vigilante were recovered, saying that investigation is still ongoing.
