Okowa Was Briefed Timeously On DC-23 Outings – Oyovbaire
..As He Urges Delta Central Leaders To Put The Latimore Phenomenon Behind
By Sunday Apah, Ughelli
Former Federal Minister of Information, Prof. Sam Oyovbaire has stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa was timeously briefed on proceedings of Delta Central 2023 (DC-23) before its outings.
Oyovbaire who made this known in a statement to respond to a recent story credited to the Executive Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore, said the unnecessary discourses on the “Latimore bad belle distraction” was an excellent example of why many good persons in the “Urhobo political class” tend to keep away from the Urhobo and national political processes.
The statement reads: “I personally feel very reluctant to do what I am doing now in responding to the Latimore phenomenon. Urhobo polity and society are highly characterised by the spoiler syndrome.

“How would Latimore ever know that “an Amori or a Oyovbaire’ would not have interacted with our excellent performer and highly respected and trusted Governor on a matter such as DC-23 before the outing; and that His Excellency was not briefed timeously on proceedings of the gathering?
“Dr Latimore attended the only 3 meetings in Chief Amori’s Asaba residence before the PTI conference centre successful inauguration of DC-23 officials.
“The undue drama of the only 3 meetings must have unfortunately ruffled unintended feathers. DC-23 is meant to do its consultations quietly, humbly and firmly with far less drama – drama that even generated by persons like Latimore who reported “opinions” expressed by individuals as “conclusions” of meetings.
“But by nature, Urhobo affairs are full of undue drama regardless of timeliness. As for Latimore, he begged to be allotted an office for him outside the approved offices allotted to Ethiope East LGA.
“Chief Amori rightly refused to grant his pressure to his frustration; and I dare say this is the basis of Latimore’s bad belle and vexatiousness. Do you want Chief Amori to open up on persons like Dr Latimore?
“Please, let’s put the Latimore bad belle phenomenon behind us. We know the qualities of the Urhobo aspirants who have so far come out, and of even those who would come later.
“It is the constitutional right of anyone to aspire including persons outside DC-23. As His Excellency, the Governor has always sermonised with excellent intentions, only God gives power and position of leadership persons, particularly in the African political economy and society”, it added.
