The 17 South-South governors who gathered in Asaba, Delta State to ban open grazing recently, have been advised to make the necessary law to bring into effect the ban on open grazing in the 17 states.

Godwin Offor, a social media influencer and blogger, stated this in a statement made available to journalists.

He noted that it is one thing to verbally declare ban on open grazing or to reach a resolution on it and another thing to make the enabling laws to abolish it.

According to him, the importance of making prohibitive law and causing it to come into full operation cannot be overemphasized as it will put to an end the rampant complaints of farmers of the destruction of their farmlands and crops by herders’ cows, callous raping and killing of farmers on their farmlands, kidnapping, among other crimes associated with herders and farmers conflict.
