2023 Guber Election: Delta Central Must Get It, Says Urhobo Rebirth Congress
By Etatsemi Onoriode.
Urhobo Rebirth Congress, aka Udu re’ Urhobo, a pressure group in Delta state has toed the line of other Delta Central people, insisting that the gentle man’s govenorship rotational arrangement must not be uttered under any guise.
The President General of the group, Comrade Steven Ochuko, who issued a press statement in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area, of Delta State to journalists, said the status quo ante as enunciated by Chief James Onanefe Ibori and other top notchers of the Peoples Democratic Party, must be sustained.
Comrade Ochuko who hails from Mosogar in Ethiope West local government area of Delta State, explained that their body which does not have affinity with any known political party in the state, was formed for the unity of the Urhobo people and they support any good candidate in Urhobo land hence they pledged their support for Ovie Omo-Agege of APC in 2019.

He pointed out that “Our slogan during the last political dispensation was Omo-Agege for Senate, Ogboru for Governor. We campaign for sellable candidates whom we believe can take Delta Central and the entire state to the next level.”
“We appeal to all the Urhobos to be very united more than ever before, so that together we can work for a consensus candidate in any of the sensitive electoral positions in the country. We should not allow money sell our birth rights, ” he added.
He remarked that since this is the time of urhobo, all Urhobo sons and daughters must have a common understanding by bringing out a sellable candidate, to occupy the Dennis Ossadebe Government House, Asaba to take the state to another level of progress
He advised APC stalwarts of Chief Ovie Omo-Agege and Chief Great Ogboru to stop the cold war amongst themselves since this will not take them anywhere and would not do the Urhobos in Delta Central any good.
He appealed further to the duo to “speak in one voice so that the entire Urhobo would move forward. If both Omo-Agege and Ogboru cooperate with each other, APC can win in Delta state.”
“They should know this,” he stressed.
He decried the painful and agonising situation the battle amongst the duo has caused party faithful who now bear the brunt of the saga, remarking that, this one sees you as belonging to the other and would not want to help you any more after spending your hard earned money for the party.
The Urhobo Rebirth Congress President added, “because of the fight, those who are to enjoy, no longer enjoy the party. We spent our money erecting bill boards, campaigning for the candidates, printed flex, hand bills, settle bills etc , yet I am not benefiting from any of the leaders. Even the Hausas Nike named me Agege because of my hard stand for him and his aspirations. Today, look at me. I have worked assiduously for the party but nothing good to show for it.”
He said, ” I appeal to the Party to assist me urgently because I am now a laughing stork of the people who saw me working hard for the party without even a pie nut to show for it. The party should do something for me and my organisation, the Urhobo Rebirth Congress. “
