Delta NUJ Passes Vote Of Confidence On Ikeogwu-Led Executive, Says Union Not At War With DTSG

The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has passed ”a vote of implicit confidence” on the State Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu and the State Working Committee, adding that the Ikeogwu-led administration has shown focused leadership and has ”tangible achievements to show.”
Issuing a communiqué after an emergency State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the Temporary Press Centre on Thursday, the Union after deliberating on issues affecting the Council and its relationship with the Delta State Government and the general public also denounced ”any form of perception of war with government,” stating ”that it is not at war with government or anybody.”

The said communiqué signed by Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, NUJ Chairman, Delta State Council and Comrade Patrick Ochei, NUJ Secretary, Delta State Council also posited that ”while the union would continue to play its constitutional role of holding government accountable, it would equally continue to support the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa towards an all inclusive development and Stronger Delta.”
Adding ”that the union would remain resolute in playing its statutory role of mounting surveillance on the society, while at the same time, resist any attempt by anybody or group to divide the Union.”
