Delta Education Commissioner Inaugurates LOC, Sub Committees For 2021 Zenith Bank Principals’ Cup

Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, has inauguated the Local Organising Committee and seven sub committees for the 2021 Zenith Bank Delta State Principals’Cup Competition.

While inaugurating the committees in Asaba, Mrs. Ezewu enjoined the members to justify the confidence reposed in them .

The commissioner, however, charged them to redouble their commitments towards ensuring the success of the Zenith Bank sponsored Principals’ Cup Football Competition.

She commended the sponsor of the competition for the initiative, adding that it was geared towards discovering young football talents at the grassroots.

Earlier in his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Ede Oghoro said that the essence of the competition was to promote football competition in the state.

According to Mr. Oghoro, the kick off for the Principals’Cup Football Competition would take place on Thursday, October 7 at St. Patricks College, Asaba at 11am , adding that there would be Press briefing on Tuesday, September 28.

The Permanent Secretary also stated that the preliminary would hold in all Local Government Areas from October 7 to October 21, 2021 while the zonal matches would be played from Monday , November 1 to Friday, November 5 at eight designated venues across the state.

Mr. Oghoro said that the semi final matches would be played on Mondayat two venues to be determined based on the location of qualified schools on November 15.

He further said that the third and final matches would hold on Thursday, November 25 at Stephen Keshi Ultra Modern Stadium, Asaba at 9am and 12pm respectively.
