NYSC To Commence Annual Zonal Sports, Cultural Festivals
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has concluded plans to commence its 2021 zonal preliminaries of sports and cultural festivals to promote national unity and integration.
This was disclosed in a statement by Mr Suleiman Aliyu, the Public Relations Officer, NYSC in Bauchi on Monday.
The NYSC spokesperson explained that Brig-Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, the Director General of NYSC has approved the commencement of the festivals.
According to him, the festival which was to sharpen corps members’ sporting skills, learn about the cultural background of other tribes, would take place between Wednesday 22 and Saturday 25, September, 2021 across six zones of Osun, Enugu, Delta, Jigawa, Bauchi states and Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Aliyu, however, explained that the states that would be competing in the Bauchi zone include; Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Taraba and Yobe states.
He added that Corps members from these states would be competing in Football, Volleyball, Track events (athletics), Dance, Drama as well as Comedy.
“Winners of the preliminary stage will qualify for finals which will be decided in Abuja on a date to be announced later.
“The opening ceremony and official Flag off of the competition will be held on Wednesday 22 September, 2021,” he said.
