Technical Education Ministry Continues Recruitment Interview In Delta

Delta State Ministry of Technical Education has commenced the second  phase of interview for applicants who were successful in the first phase of its series of interviews, aimed at recruiting over 325 teaching and 180 non- teaching  staff into the technical colleges in the state.

For the second phase which is oral interview, applicants first had  their  credentials verified by the verification team before proceeding for the interview, followed immediately with micro- teaching sessions.

Day one of the interview which  held on Monday, December 6, 2021 was for  applicants whose  subject areas are English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Basic Science, Basic Technology, Agricultural Science, Business Studies, History Studies, Computer Science, French, Physics, Motor Vehicle Mechanic Works and Electrical Installation, among others.

Day two of the interview is expected to take on non- teaching applicants who applied for such positions as laboratory attendants, bursars, librarians, guidance  and counseling, among others.

Speaking on the essence of the screening and interview, the Technical Education Commissioner, Hon. (Princess) Shola Ogbemi-Daigbo, said that due to the high premium the state government placed on education, it intended to employ only qualified candidates to drive the system, stressing that an exercise based on merit at recruiting the needed manpower was the only way forward.

She disclosed that a written examination had earlier been conducted for the over 28,000 applicants for the various advertised positions into the new and old technical colleges in the state with 8,000 shortlisted for the ongoing interviews.

She added that after a computer based test, 1,000 applicants were further shortlisted for the oral test, out of which 325 would be employed in the teaching category and 184 as none teaching staff.

Some of the candidates interviewed said that they were pleased with the process and procedures of the recruitment drive, but appealed for a quick conclusion of the exercise.
