UBEJI FIRE INCIDENT: Warri South Council Parleys Tank Farm Owners, Hosts Communities

Following last week’s fire incident in Ubeji involving a diesel laden tanker which led to the death of one person, Chairman of the Warri South Council Area, Dr Michael Tidi on Wednesday held am emergency meeting with Tank Farm owners and Ubeji community with a view to calm frayed nerves.
The meeting which was held at the Warri South Council Secretariat included Senior security personnel.
Tidi after the meeting told journalist that he had to call for the emergency meeting because tempers were already getting high because of the death of one of the sons of the community.

To avert a recurrence, Tidi said the order for the immediate removal of all illegal roadblocks mounted by community youths, still subsist.
He warned that any youth found wanting would be arrested by the security operatives.
He appealed for the immediate construction of a fire fighting station by the Tank Farm owners so that there can be prompt response to future fire incidents.
While lamenting the rate of illegal oil bunkering in Ubeji community and its environs, the Warri South Council Chairman, urged leaders of the Communities to go back home and report back to him on what they want to do to end the menace soon.
On the issue of the burial of the young man that’s died in the fire incident, Tidi ordered the community not to engage in any elaborate burial for the young man.
He tasked the Tank Farm owners to do what they can do support the wife and children of the deceased.
The Council Chairman also called on the Tank Farm owners to strengthen their community relations strategy and work closely with the community.
The Tank Farm owners and the community present agreed to work together for the betterment of the communities and the Tank Farm owners.
