Uvwie LGA Chairman Bans Anti-Cult Group In Ekpan

Uwvie Local Government Chairman, Honourable Ramsey Onoyake, has banned the anti-cultist group in Ekpan Community, Effurun to ensure peace in the area.
The Ekpan Community has recently been a battle field at night as gunshots were heard continuously. This warranted the disbanding of the Anti-cult group by the chairman.
Residents had complained about the disturbing gunshots and fear of insecurity, despite the presence of the Anti-cult and vigilante groups.

Speaking with newsmen a resident, who pleaded anonymity, stated that they believed that both the Anti-cult group and the actual cultists were all members of various cult groups, adding that the various groups were at logger heads for reasons best known to themselves; hence, the clashes and shootings at night.
Mr. Tega, who also spoke, stated that residents did not feel safe in the community and had called on the relevant authorities to flush out the cultists from the area, adding that the ban of the Anti-cult group was not enough.
Honourable Onoyake has also called on the youths in Ekpan Community to shun cultism and engage in meaningful activities that would better their lives and the community.
He went further to warn that anyone caught involving in cult activities would suffer the repercussions of being a cultist.
