By Daniel Dafe

The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU), Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka branch, has
faulted the Delta State government’s position of not having any industrial dispute with staff.

A source who was at the Congress of the Union on Wednesday, disclosed this to Oasis Magazine.

Our source added that DELSU-ASUU is unhappy that ninety percent of structures in the Delta State University, Abraka Site 3 are as a result of the ASUU struggle.

“Delta State Government is not doing enough in terms of infrastructural development of the institution because about 90% structures in the school are from TEDFUND as a result of the ASUU struggle,” the source added.

Some of their grievances our source said include non payment of minimum wage arrears and exemption of Professors from the contributory pension scheme.

Adding that the Delta State Government only gave permission to the DELSU management to pay the arrears but the permission does not transform into payment.

The source continued: “The strike is not against the DELSU VC or the Delta State Government. Comrades acknowledged the strike is in force.”

“We are on strike. The strike is total,” our source added.
