BREAKING: Senate, HoRs Pass LG Autonomy Bill

The Nigerian Senate, on Tuesday, passed the Bill granting full autonomy to the local government and council areas in Nigeria.

Ninety-Two senators voted overwhelmingly in support of the Bill, after a clause-by-clause consideration at the Committee on the Whole.
 
Also, the House of Representatives in addition to voting for financial and administrative autonomy for local government councils across the Federation, the House also voted to amend the Constitution to grant autonomy to State Legislature and Judiciary.

However, the bill that seeks to grant the National Assembly the power to override a presidential veto on an amendment to the constitution failed to muster the required 288 votes.
