Borrowing Delta Blind For Sharing: Okowa’s Case Will Be Worse Than Ibori

DTSG Has Been Supportive To NPC - Odibo

With nothing near commensurate to show for it, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s inciting selling of Delta state into debt slavery will make his case worse than ex-convict predecessor, Chief James Ibori, when Okowa vacates office next year.

In the premeditated reckless sharing of the latest loan of N150 Billions on the books of a state already sunk deep in debts, Okowa has awarded a contract for N5.1Billions construction of an international conference centre in Asaba, of what benefit is it to Deltans.

Okowa has hurriedly released to the contractor 35% (N1,785,000,000) mobilization, claiming this will enable the contractor to start and finish the project within twelve months.

Whereas Teachers who retired since 2014 have not been paid gratuities and pensions. With just twelve months to hand over to a successor, Okowa prefers a squandering of the N5.1B conference centre to pay suffering pensioners.

This case of Delta under Okowa will be similar to that of Anambra where Willie Obiano left mountains of debts for Charles Soludo. Okowa has established himself as the grandmaster of the PDP hegemony of looting over the Delta treasury. “Ibori and Uduaghan dey learn for where Okowa dey”.

Like Ibori, Okowa will not escape nemesis for all of these reckless borrowings to share with the state rubber-stamp lawmakers. His cup is filled up, running over. He will get a bigger disgrace than Ibori when the garb of immunity disappears from him.

Okowa carries Bible to mislead the public. The Bible doesn’t teach him to loot. God cannot be mocked. Soon God will tell him, I know you not, because you looted the commonwealth and kept my people (Delta populace) hungry in the midst of plenty.

It’s terrible; a thief does not know shame. Like Ibori, like Okowa.
