DIL Holds Two-Day Business Workshop
By Daniel Dafe
DELSU Investment Limited (DIL) has held a two-day workshop with theme: ‘Profitable and Sustainable Business Models: Challenges and Prospects for Private Schools in Nigeria.’
The business workshop for Higher Institutions of learning, schools, religious organizations, private and public organizations and cooperative societies, took place on the 24th to 26th of May, 2022 at the Dean’s Conference Hall, Faculty of Education, Site 3, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.
Speaking at the event, Vice-Chancellor, DELSU, Professor Andy Egwunyenga, said.
one of the problems in Nigeria is that most Nigerians think that Nigeria is very rich, saying that instead of adding to the economic growth, many want to collect from what we already have.
Egwunyenga, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Ochuko Aromoharan, said that “a state in US such as Texas has a higher budget than that of Nigeria>”
He continued: “Technology is changing everyday and if you own a business or enterprise and you are not evolving with the current trends then you stand to fail because things are not done the same way they were done.

“So we must add value to whatever we are doing. The only way we can add value to what we are doing is by getting the right technology and getting the right hands to do things for us. We alone cannot do it all but getting the right people around us will help us get a good result.”
In his welcome address, Managing Director, DIL, Dr. Rowell Ubogu, said “the purpose of the workshop is to educate all participants on best practices to run a profitable and sustainable business.”
According to him, “a sustainable business does not just happen by accident.”
“Becoming sustainable requires a strategy, and for that strategy to succeed it requires a connection from a financial prudency of a company,” he opined.
He added: “At this workshop, some key element and business intelligence will be exposed towards connecting sustainability and profitability. When a business has a sustainable growth, it shows the company’s utilization of funds, depth management asset utilization, e.t.c. As a result, sustainability also equals profitability. Sustainability investment and revenue will increase cost, while cost will reduce.”
Resource persons for the highly impactful workshop were Chairman, ICAN, Ibadan District Society, Biodun Adedeji and Mr. Anikoro Masaph.
