Adeyeri Stephen Pleads With FG Over Prolong ASUU Strike

A member of the governing All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Hon. Adeyeri Stephen Kunle, has urged the Federal Government to resolve issues with the striking Nigerian lecturers under the auspices of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Adeyeri prevailed on the government to further engage the lecturers with a view to finding a lasting solution to the interminable strike action.
The APC Chieftain stated this in a statement issued to newsmen on Monday in Akure, the State Capital.

The statement read, “Education is the bedrock of any society. Its importance to whoever has it is unquantifiable and not having it renders one almost impotent. This is true as education is seen as the total development of an individual”
“It is very worrisome and heart-wrenching to understand that both the FG and ASUU couldn’t come to terms despite several meetings held. The deadlock meetings solely delineate the manner at which this critical sector has been downrightly downplayed”
“We can’t rule out the incontrovertible fact that Government cannot do everything, but it must also live up to the expectations of the citizenry by ensuring that our campuses are reopened for academic activities”
“Sadly, it is during this industrial action that many teeming youth lost their lives while others are confined to petty jobs just to eke out a living, this is not congenial to nation building at all”
“I sincerely appeal to our tenderhearted and affable father, President Muhammadu Buhari, to meddle into the protracted crisis by coming up with multifaceted approach to end the strike”, Adeyeri said.
