Pro-Chancellor, Sir David Sunmoni, Bags Highest Honour In Ikorodu Kingdom

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Lagos State University Governing Council, Sir. David Olabanji Sunmoni, FCA, was on Saturday, 19th November, 2022 conferred with the IKODASS Merit Award, the the highest award of the Ikorodu Oga Development Association, during the 31st Ikorodu Oga Day, which held at the palace of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu.
The Ayangburen and royal host of the programme, HRM, Alaiyeluwa Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Shotobi, while presenting the award to Sir. Sunmoni and his wiife, revealed that the honour is reserved for outstanding sons and daughters of the Ikorodu Kingdom who have made profound impact on the people and the Ikorodu community as a whole. He noted that Sir. Sunmoni is the only recipient of the award this year.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, was a Special Guest of Honour at the event, and leader of the LASU delegation, which had the University Librarian, Dr. Emmanuel Layi Adebayo and other senior officials of the university. Dr. Adebayo read the citation of the awardee.
Sir. Sunmoni was the Auditor-General, and later, Accountant-General and Permanent Secretary of Lagos State before he retired in 2015. He was appointed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, LASU, in July 2021.
A former don of LASU, Alhaji Tajudeen Bawa-Allah who died in December, 2021, was the last recipient of the IKODASS Merit Award.
