Buhari: How I Tried To Avoid Celebrating 80th Birthday
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said that he tried to avoid celebrating his 80th birthday on Saturday.
In an appreciation post on his Facebook page on Monday, the retired general stated that he fixed his return journey from America for his birthday in order to dodge any celebration.
Buhari had been in America for the US-Africa Leader’s Summit and returned to the country on Saturday.

He wrote, “I’m grateful for the outpouring of good wishes for my 80th birthday. I tried to avoid having to celebrate, by fixing our return journey from the United States on that day, but I didn’t quite succeed.
“I give thanks to the Almighty for the gift of life, and the opportunity to serve, and I also thank everyone who sent prayers and greetings, and organised celebrations.”
