LASU Signs MoU With Michael Imoudu National Institute Of Labour Studies

The Lagos State University through its Consult Limited on Tuesday, 31st January 2023, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Michael Imoudu National Institute of Labour Studies (MINILS) on training workshops and other areas of interest.

The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference Room, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

The Vice Chancellor and Chairman, Board of Directors, LASU Consult Limited, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji – Bello, mni, in her address stated thus “…the collaboration will create opportunities for various training programmes in areas such as industrial relations, sustainable labour management, productivity enhancement, leadership skills development as well as effective students’ union administration. No doubt, LASU stands to benefit tremendously from this partnership”, she said.

The Professor of Physiology added that LASU is a brand known for its staff friendly policies and encouraged staff of both institutions to take the collaboration as a great opportunity to advance human capacity development in Nigeria and globally.

Director-General/CEO, MINILS, Comrade Issa Aremu, mni, NPOM, in his remarks affirmed that LASU is labour and staff friendly. He noted thus “…in order to implement the vision and mission of building capacity for workers, employers of labour as well as government officials in ensuring industrial harmony and peace, we have to leverage on partnership”, he stated.

Comrade Aremu asserted that effective students’ union administration is germane because students are future workers and it is better to catch them young before they join the work force.

The Director, LASU Consult, Prof. Ibrahim Bakare, averred that relationship management is key and encouraged all to value relationship building, relationship management and sustainability. “…we at LASU are peaceful and resourceful and we want to give the best in terms of service delivery. LASU Consult is interested in partnering with the institute in the area of providing modern technologies to make workers appreciate the value and dignity of labour” he said.

Speaking further, he appreciated the University Management for making welfare a priority and ensuring that the staff and students of the University get the best.

The Registrar, Emmanuel A. FANU, gave the vote of thanks.

The MoU signing ceremony had in attendance members of the University Management, Officials of MINILS, Chairman, NLC, Lagos, Com. Agnes Funmi Sessi, Chairmen of Staff Unions in the University, Senior Members of Staff, some Past and Present Union Leaders.
