DELSU SUG Trains 16 Union Members In Mushroom Farming

The Student Union Government, SUG, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka under the leadership of Caleb Ogagaoghene Okupa on Saturday commenced trainimg for 16 members of the Union in mushroom farming.

The training which held at the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, CES Building, Site 3 was coordinated by Mr. Uche Mofi, CEO, Uche Mofi Farms Limited, Obinomba, Delta State.

Speaking to journalists, Comrade Okupa said those trained were founding members for the project.

In his words, “the aim is to create a system that gives indigent students the opportunity to make money while in school and also a good background on financial freedom and how to conquer poverty.”

He added: “Since DELSUITES interest is paramount to the president and his administration, it is important that we apply TIME (RISK+WORK)=BENEFITS.”

“My dream is in line with the goal of our amiable Vice Chancellor that DELSU in no time will become the first in Nigeria as the mushroom hub and as pacesetters,” he said.

He continued: “The training should take 12 months but students who follow instructions can start earning in less than 2 months.”

On sponsorship, DELSU SUG is sponsoring the project .

Furthermore, he said that “there will be a DELSU mushroom farm/family moving forward.”

“The management is aware, the VC approved, the Dean is in support and the union is aware. Soon we look forward to seeking more sponsors so we can sponsor other students,” saying that any DELSU student can be trained and that students who have serious difficulties with finance will be given priority.
