Federal Poly Orogun To Commence Academic Activities Soon –Omo-Agege
Admission seekers would soon heave a sigh of relief, as the newly approved Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, Delta State is expected to commence academic activities in the next two months, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has assured.
Senator Omo-Agege stated this at the National Assembly Complex Abuja while hosting leaders from Delta North Senatorial District.
The Delta Central lawmaker called on elected leaders to put the interests of the electorate above personal interests.
He lamented that over 80 percent of admission seekers in the state fail to gain admission into tertiary institutions, adding that the establishment of more higher institutions would cater for this.

He said: “Bills are passed everyday through both chambers. That may sound difficult to you but as difficult as that is, even after you scale though that hurdle getting presidential assent is another big hurdle. But I was lucky that I found favour in the sight of our president, President Muhammadu Buhari and also found favour in the sight of the Honourable Minister of Education. And they were able to approve it.
“By God’s grace, I believe in the next two months or thereabouts, with all of the structures already in place, academic activities should begin at the Federal Polytechnic Orogun”.
Recall that the bill establishing the institution was sponsored by the Delta Central lawmaker and signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari in April 2022.
The President also appointed the management team of the institution in February this year, with Dr. Duke Okoro as the pioneer Rector.
The federal lawmaker commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, for their immense roles played in the establishment of the institution.
