PSC Appoints 2 DIGs, Promotes Force PRO, 14,052 Inspectors, Confirms 9,016 ASPs
The Police Service Commission has approved the appointment of AIG Matthew Akinyosola and AIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi, as DIGs representing the South-West geopolitical zone in the force management team.
A statement by the commission said AIG Mathew Akinyosola has since proceeded on retirement, thereby paving the way for AIG Abiodun Sylvester as the current DIG representing the South West.
The commission also approved the promotion of Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi to the next rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, Confirmed 9,016 unconfirmed Assistant Superintendents of Police, and the promotion of 14,052 Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police (Unconfirmed) including the promotion of Inspector Habila Bulus to ASP 11 for his gallantry and commitment to duty.
Similarly, the police Inspector who was assaulted by Seun Kuti on uniform was was also promoted to the next rank of ASP 1.
The Commission noted that inspite of the unwarranted provocation, intimidation and assult, the officer exhibited a high level of professionalism, restraint and chose to follow the due process of law in seeking redress.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Commission, Dr Solomon Arase charged the newly promoted Officers to see their promotion as a call to greater commitment to the service of their fatherland.
