BREAKING: Uzodinma Picks Chinyere Ekomaru As Running Mate, Dumps Deputy
It was indeed a landmark event in Owerri today, as His Excellency, Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma officially presented his new running mate for his second term Governorship bid scheduled for November 11, 2023.
The new running mate, Hon. Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, who hails from Ikeduru in Imo East Senatorial District, otherwise known as Owerri Zone was described by many political observers as a great mobilizer and consensus builder, and lauded the Governor for making such a right choice.
The new running mate will replace the incumbent Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Prof. Placid Njoku as soon as the Governorship election is over in November and both her and Senator Uzodimma sworn-in by January 2024.

However, during the event, Governor Uzodimma cleared the air over an insinuation that there is face off between him and his outgoing Deputy. He said that reason for substituting his current deputy, Prof. Placid Njoku, and the choice of Lady Chinyere Ekomaru, does not signify the latter’s inconsequentiality, but as an act of necessity in consideration of certain strategic political factors in the new permutation ahead of the forthcoming election.
The unveiling programme was well attended by party stakeholders, leaders, support groups, and stalwarts from all walks of life across the state.
With this, Uzodimma, has up his game, to face the challenge of the governorship candidates of the Action Alliance, AA, Lincoln Ogunewe, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Labour Party, LP, Senator Athan Achonu among others.
While Ogunewe and Senator Anyanwu are from (Imo East senatorial zone) Senator Athan (Imo North) and Uzodimma (Imo West).
