Economy: Djebah Charges Government On Implementation Of People Oriented Policies

The Publicity Secretary of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide, Olorogun Luke Obemiguren Djebah has charged government at all levels to implement people oriented policies to assuage the hardship of the masses.

He gave the charge in a media interaction with newsmen recently.

Djebah who is also the President of Ufuoma – Udu nation wide, stressed that it was expedient for the Federal, state and local governments to implement policies that are people oriented because of the extreme hash economic conditions confronting the masses.

He accused government of implementing policies that caused economic hardships to the masses as he cited the sudden removal of oil subsidy among other policies that brought untold hardship to the Nigerian masses.

Djebah therefore suggested among other things that there should not be further increment of price of pump of petrol and that payment of school and other levies should be stopped in public tietary, secondary and primary schools.

He also called for a stop in the increment of tarrif in electricity.

“There should be payment of at least 10,000 naira monthly each to 500 less privileged persons in each local government area of the country.

“Elected and appointed government officials should stop receiving allowances for at least 2years,” he added.

Djebah seized the opportunity to appeal to Aladja and Ogbe – Ijoh people to sheathe their swords and embrace peace in the interest of unity among the Urhobos and Ijaws.

He was full of praises for Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori and Delta State tradititioal rulers for their efforts so far in putting the age-long dispute to an end.
