Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has said that the signing into law of the Enugu State Electricity Bill on Monday, is a major step towards the growth of the state’s economy and making the state the ideal destination for investment, business, tourism, and living.

He said this in a post on his X handle (formerly Twitter).

According to him, since electricity is now on the concurrent list, this Law will enable the state “play in all the value chain of the electricity industry.”

“It will ensure that Enugu State has her own electricity market, to be able to function in the generation, transmission, and distribution segments of the market, because without regular power supply, industry or private sector investment would not thrive.”

According to him, his “administration’s goal to grow Enugu State’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion would translate to a pipe dream without adequate and stable power supply, hence the need for the Electricity Law.”

Meanwhile, he commended the leadership and members of the House of Assembly for the expeditious passage of the Bill, and for their partnership with his government for the good of Enugu State.

In his words, “Tomorrow is here.”
