HPV Vaccine To Become Part Of Nigeria’s Routine Immunization Schedule From October 24 –NPHCDA

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency, NPHCDA, has said that “starting on the 24th of October 2023, the HPV vaccine will become a part of Nigeria’s Routine Immunization Schedule.”

The Agency said this on Tuesday on X platform via its official handle.

According to the post, “the introduction will begin in 16 states during the phase I, which includes Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Enugu, FCT, Jigawa.”

Adding: “Others are Kano, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ogun, Osun, and Taraba. This vaccination program is aimed at girls aged 9-14, and it’s essential for parents and caregivers to ensure that their children receive the HPV vaccine.”

“This vaccine provides protection against the Human Papillomavirus, which is a known cause of Cervical Cancer. It’s important to note that these vaccines are free, safe, and highly effective,” the post concluded.
