Abe 1 Appeals For Adequate Funding Of FUPRE

HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso (JP) OON Abe 1 the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom has appealed for the adequate funding of Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE ) Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State.

He made the appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his articulated address during the hosting of the Honorable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Egwarewa Adeniyi Keyamo SAN by Uvwie people at the posh palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom GRA Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area on Saturday 11 th November 2023.

The highly esteemed traditional ruler bitterly remarked that FUPRE has become a glorified institution owing to its poor funding by the Federal Government.

“We appeal that the act establishing the university should be fully implemented, particularly the sources of funding listed in the act. ” he stated.

The Uvwie monarch stressed that the university should be adequately be founded as a specialised university ” So that the vision and mission of establishing the university can be achieved.

“As a specialised petroleum and gas university, the lecturers and non teaching staff should not only be remunerated as oil and gas workers but the Ministry of Petroleum Resources should actually be the major source of funding,” he added.
