Truth Chapel Gets New Executive, As Oyowe Calls For More Proactive Leadership

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council Comrade Churchill Oyowe has called on the newly inaugurated EXCO of The Truth Chapel to strive for more proactive leadership in piloting the affairs of the Union.

Comrade Oyowe who stated this during the inauguration of the new executive at the State NUJ Press Centre on Thursday 18th January 2024, charged them to be up and doing and to derive means to generate revenue; adding that Chapel leadership should not be about occupying an office for a specific number of years but it should be laced with activities that will make the chapel and its membership to be relevant.

He exhorted them to be upright and focussed in their task of piloting the affairs of the chapel as well as to constitutionally carry out programmes that would announce the chapel; and called on members to support the new leadership rather than allowing their personal interest to overide the collective interest of the chapel.

In her inaugural speech, Chairman of Truth Chapel Comrade Dorathy Mbasen Uba thanked members of the State Council for squeezing time out of their official engagements to install the new executive.

Comrade Uba extended her appreciation to members of Truth Chapel for giving her another opportunity to serve them, and pledged to operate an open-door policy, where all members would be carried along and solicited the cooperation of members to reposition the Chapel.

Those inaugurated include Comrade Dorathy Mbasen Uba who was returned unopposed as the new Chairman of the Chapel; Comrades Felix Yemi Olaniyan and Emmanuella Ify Mokogwu also returned as Secretary and Treasurer respectively.

Others who were returned unopposed include: Comrade Miracle Azuh Assistant Secretary, Comrade Mathew Ugheni Financial Secretary and Comrade Gilbert Olie, Auditor.

Highpoint of the event was the oath-taking ceremony which was administered on the new exco by the Council’s Secretary, Comrade Victor Sorokwu.

The inauguration was witnessed by executive members of the Council led by the State Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe who was accompanied by the the State Secretary, Comrade Victor Sorokwu, the Assistant Comrade Josephine Omodior, the Treasurer Comrade Caroline Ubini as well as the Auditor, Comrade Celestine Afokobah.

Also present at the ceremony was the Acting Chief Executive and the Editor-Chief of the organization , Comrade Augustine Emordi Ihonor.
