Delta NUJ Loses Immediate Past Treasurer, Joy Mordi

The immediate past Treasurer of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Delta State Council, Lady Joy Mordi, is dead.

She died on Sunday evening,

Her passing was announced by top ranking members of the union via posts on the union’s Whatsapp platform.

Members of the union have continued to send in tributes to mourn the deceased who many said was a shocking development.

The Immediate Past Vice Chairman of the union, Comr. Ogono Salvation, wrote: “This is hard to believe! My dear Sister to go without saying goodbye! Well, it’s a big shock. Though, I will learn to live with the sad memory. My Vice Chairman, during the NUJ race! Rest on till we meet to part no more! RIP.”

On his part, the immediate past Secretary of Delta NUJ, Comr. Patrick Ochei, wrote on Facebook: “Oh death, where is thy sting! She was my colleague and immediate past Treasurer in Delta State Council of NUJ, from 2017-2023 where we both served as Exco members. I saw her and regarded her as a big sister. She would often say to me, Pat, you know you are my darling, always keep calm as you have always done.”

Meanwhile, the cause of her death was still unknown at the time of this report.
