Delta NUJ Fixes Congress For May 29
By Daniel Dafe
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, has fixed Wednesday, May 29, 2024, for Congress.
The said date which coincides with the 1st anniversary celebration of the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori was picked after the initial date (Thursday) coincided with the Service of Songs for a departed member of the union, Comrade Joy Mordi.
A statement by the union’s secretary, Victor Sorokwu, also urged Chapel leaders to circulate the information to members.

Meanwhile, Oasis Magazine learnt that the move to snub government activities on the said day may not be unconnected with the perceived cold feet the government of the day may have developed towards the union.
A leader of the union who did not want his name mentioned, fumed, saying: “The governor is doing his 1st anniversary Thanksgiving and NUJ was not invited. No pressure briefing; nothing. This is sending the wrong message to us journalists in Delta.”
