Finidi George Nominates Amokachi, Three Foreign Assistant Coaches
In a move aimed at strengthening the Super Eagles’ coaching staff, Finidi George, the newly appointed coach of the Nigerian national team, has nominated Daniel Amokachi as his second assistant, alongside three foreign coaches for the roles of first assistant, fitness trainer, and match analyst, according to Sport Brief.
This development is coming barely a month before the Super Eagles’ crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification fixtures against South Africa and the Republic of Benin.
According to sources close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Finidi George has submitted a list of his preferred assistants, which includes Amokachi, a former Nigerian forward, and three foreign coaches with impressive track records. The foreign coaches are expected to bring fresh perspectives and expertise to the team, while Amokachi’s experience and knowledge of the Nigerian football landscape will be invaluable to the team’s success.

The NFF has assured that it will carefully consider Finidi’s recommendations and work out the modalities for the payment of the wages of the backroom staff to avoid any issues of non-payment of salaries. This move is seen as a positive step towards ensuring that the Super Eagles receive the best possible preparation and support ahead of their crucial World Cup qualification fixtures.
