NAPPS Holds Children’s Day Celebration In Abraka

National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, NAPPS, Abraka Unit, Delta State, on Monday celebrated the 2024 National Children’s Day

The event that took place at Ojeta Secondary School, Abraka, was witnessed by the State Chairman, Mrs. P.N. Young represented by the immediate past State Chairman, Deacon Monday Ifoghere and the Chapter Chairman, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Mrs. Joy Agbefe.

Speaking during the event, Mrs. Young, said the National Children’s Day is one dedicated to the future leaders.

Adding: “It is a day to celebrate your unique talents, your boundless energy, and your limitless potentials.

“Children’s Day is not just a date on the calendar; it is a reminder to all of us about the significance of nurturing the young minds that will shape our tomorrow. It is a day to reflect on our commitment to providing you with the education, support, and environment you need to grow into confident, compassionate, and competent individuals.”

Young continued: “Our Association, NAPPS, has always been dedicated to ensuring that private schools in Delta State provide quality education that is not only academically rigorous but also holistically enriching. We must equip our children with digital literacy or 21st century skills, enabling them to harness the power power of technology for learning, innovation and empowerment while safeguarding them from its potential risks. We understand that each child is unique, with their own strengths and interests. Our mission is to cultivate an environment where every child can thrive and reach their fullest potential.”

She also opined that “education is not just about textbooks and exams; it is about discovering the world, understanding different perspectives, and developing the skills that will enable you to contribute positively to society.”

Speaking further, the state chairman, said: “We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive educational landscape. We strive to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has access to the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. We believe in the power of education to transform lives and communities, and we are dedicated to making this belief a reality,’ just as she called on NAPPS children to dream big,

To parents and guardians, she said: “ Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication. Your involvement in your children’s education is invaluable, and your partnership with our schools is essential for their success. Together, we can build a strong foundation for our children’s future,” while commending teachers for their passion, commitment, and hard work.

“Your role in shaping the minds and hearts of our children cannot be overstated. You are their mentors, guides, and champions, and we deeply appreciate all that you do,” she said.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Mr. Ejiro Onosakponome described children as young and beautiful creatures.

He recalled that the earliest Children’s Day can be traced back to the United States of America in 1857.

He noted that the day also serves to recognize that all minors and children have the right to health, education and protection.

On her part, Mrs. Agbefe praised the executive for a job well done.

Agbefe urged school owners to continue to nurture their pupils and students in the fear of the Lord.

“Those days, children’s day looked like Christmas,” she averred.

Meanwhile, she tasked NAPPS members in the area on unity and prayed that next year’s event will be greater.

The well-attended programme featured match past from schools owned by some members of the unit.

Other line up of activities includes debate, cultural dances, choreography and recitation.
