Former Rivers Commissioner, Doris Fisher, Is Dead
Dr. Doris Fisher, former Commissioner for Water and Rural Development, has passed away, confirmed by family sources on Thursday, June 6.
The news, which broke late Wednesday, was initially met with disbelief but was later verified by grieving family members on Facebook.
A trained medical doctor, Dr. Fisher served as a consultant physician at Military Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos until 1997.

She then became Executive Chairman of the Rivers State Primary Education Board (1997-2004) and later Commissioner for Water and Urban Development (2008-2010).
Her last known role was Chairman of the Port Harcourt Water Corporation in December 2018.
Dr. Fisher, an alumna of Queen’s College Lagos, University of Lagos, and University of London, is survived by her husband and two sons.
The cause of her death remains undisclosed.
