St Anastasia Heights Schools, Effurun Celebrates 30th Anniversary

The famous St. Anastasia Heights Montessori and Secondary School International, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, celebrated her 30th anniversary in a very colorful way last weekend.

The celebration witnessed graduation /prize giving of pupils and students.

The proprietress of the school, Chief ( Mrs ) Anastasia Onisiru Agbatutu whose welcome address was read by the Administrator of the school, Mrs Ruth Omoye Ebhomen, emphasized the importance of education in children as she quoted a Tibetan proverb which says that: ‘A child without education is like a bird without wings.’

“Today, you can see our children have wings after a long course of study.

“Therefore we must celebrate them for this laudable achievements.

“St. Anastasia Heights has given our graduands wings to fly; they can fly as high as the eagle,” she added.

The renowned educationist cum counselor proudly and gladly disclosed the aims and objectives of her school to include: provision of learners with educational foundation and morals, nurturing learners from preschool to senior secondary school while upholding the ethics and values to support their emotional, social, intellectual, creative and physical wellbeing among others.”

The respected Uvwie chief, appreciated parents for their choice of school just as she commended teachers for their immense contributions towards the growth of the school.

Agbatutu did not leave out the alumni of St. Anastasia Heights in her words of appreciation as among those who made the school what it is.

The guest speaker of the historic event, Dr ( Mrs ) P A Ifie represented by Dr D. O Ifie in her speech, noted that the event marked a significant milestone in the lives of parents and graduands of the school.

“We have walked the halls of this school, forged friendships and overcome challenges.

“Now, as we stand on the threshold of tomorrow, we are filled with a mix of excitement, nostalgia, and perhaps a touch of uncertainty.

“But fear not for today, we celebrate not just an end but a new beginning – a commencement of our journey into the wider World,” he added.

Ifie in his thought provoking address, urged the secondary school graduands to imbibe the following principles in their future endeavors: ‘ embrace life long learning, cultivate resilience, develop critical thinking, foster relationships and pursue passion with purpose.

A special guest at the event, High Chief Godwin Odjegbane Ejumi who is the Unuevworo of Etche R Ugboroke ( traditional mouth piece) in Uvwie Kingdom in his speech, gave the proprietress of the school a pat on the back, for the establishment of the school which he adjudged as one of the best private schools in Uvwie Local Government Area.

The Uvwie high traditional chief, also congratulated the graduands.

The chairman of the event, Chief Anthony Erute spoke in the same vein, as he charged the secondary school graduands to focus on their education and be good ambassadors of the school.

Another special guest, Chief Abraham Edjedegba, an engineer in his speech, emphasized the importance of teaching and learning of local languages in schools.

The event featured reading of news in Urhobo language by a primary six graduand, Miss Efe Ufuoma Rejoice, recitation of poems, cultural dances among others by pupils and students of the school.

High points of the event were the induction of the secondary graduands by the president of the school alumni association, Dr Muobo Ayanyen and cutting of the 30 years anniversary cake.

Other eminent personalities that were spotted at the event are : Chief Adulpphus Agbatutu ( the husband of Chief Mrs Anastasia Onisiru Agbatutu), Chief Gulf Apene and Patrick Agaga.
