The Dangote Refinery Controversy Is Another Drama

The accusation by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) that Dangote Refinery is producing low quality of diesel is nothing but a ploy to kill the local refinery and be promoting importation of fuels.

All kinds of stories have been heard from the regulators and NNPCL. They say Nigeria is short of crude oil production and yet they export crude oil every day. They claim that the crude oil is being stolen by illegal bunkerers.

We are also told NNPCL gave a multi-billion naira surveillance contract to TOMPOLO and his TANTITA and yet they still complain of crude oil theft. Who is deceiving who?

The military Tinubu gives matching orders to, have been all round guarding the facilities. If oil theft is still there, what relevance is retaining TOMPOLO and his TANTITA as surveillance contractor? What are they guarding when oil theft is unrestrained?

If Nigeria really wants to end importation of fuels why can’t Tinubu and NNPCL/regulators encourage local production of refined petroleum products instead of depending on importation of fuels.

I don’t think the fuels we see in filling stations have any higher quality than what Dangote refinery is producing. I call for the sack of the regulatory board that said the fuel produced by Dangote refinery is of low quality.

How do we develop Nigeria when the Nigerian authorities are encouraging importation? I am not a fan of Dangote but the truth must be said.

In addition to Dangote refinery, Tinubu must give matching orders to IOCs and indigenous oil companies to refine 50% fuels out of their crude oil, condensate and natural gas production. Why should Nigeria buy fuels from the same countries that import Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate? Is that not insanity?

The regulators should apologize to Dangote Refinery for that careless statement. Tinubu must encourage local investors rather than trotting around the world looking for investors that will not take him serious.

Is it because Aliko Dangote didn’t bribe the regulators hence the careless statement?
