‘Trigger-Happy’ Policeman Shoots Lady In Abraka

A young girl simply identified as John Rukevwe Hilda, was on Saturday allegedly shot by a “trigger-happy” policeman, yet to be identified, at Oria Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.

AKA No Justice, No Peace, who disclosed this in a statement made available to Oasis Magazine, added that the said incidence occurred at the front of a secondary school in the community.

According to the statement, a family friend, named Precious, the boyfriend of Rukky, called him to narrate the sad incident.

“He told me how they were taking the U-turn while driving, heard someone hitting his vehicle from behind to stop and then he came down, and saw they were policemen and he frowned at the way they approached him, entered his vehicle and drove off. That he suddenly heard a gunshot, which penetrated through his car, directly at his girlfriend from the back, at the passenger’s seat. Currently, she is in the theatre and being stabilized at Dunflux hospital opposite Big Taste, a private facility, where she is fighting to survive the bullet wounds.

He continued: “I have reached out to the DPO Abraka Division; SP Fabian Ayameh and also, the Delta State Police PPRO, DSP Bright Edafe.
the Delta State Police PPRO, SP Bright Edafe, who told me that the DPO in charge of Abraka will look into the matter, reverting the same to the State Command, where they will ensure that the happy trigger Police officer is identified and detained pending investigations.”

Furthermore, he called on the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Surajudeen Olufemi Abaniwonda, to immediately probe into the matter, fishing out the Police officers at Oria junction, and further persecuting same.

Meanwhile, at the time of this report, Oasis Magazine learnt that the victim is still in the theatre, as sources said she sustained three bullet wounds.
