CASON Holds 48th International Conference In Uvwie

The Counselling Association of Nigeria ( CASON ) held her 48th International conference in Jubilee Center, Enerhen Uvwie Local Government Area on Tuesday, 19th August, 2024.

In his keynote address, Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori charged the association on the establishment of counselling clinics.

Governor Oborevwori who was ably represented by the member representing Isoko South Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Hon Ferguson Onwo explained that the charge was neccesitated by the importance of counseling in human endeavors.

Onwo in his personal capacity, promised to assist the association at all time.

Another law maker, High Chief Hon Benson Obireh who is representing Warri South Constituency 11 at the Delta State House of Assembly in his brief speech also emphasized the importance of counselling in human development as he asserted that good counselling can turn the fortunes of Nigeria around positively and that someone who has gone astray can be put on the right track with good counselling.

The Delta State Chairman of CASON, Dr ( Mrs) Edna Abbide in her welcome address stated among other things that Delta State was hosting the event after twenty -five years.

Abbide who is a lecturer at the College of Education Warri appreciated all those who were present at the epoch making event as she was also full of appreciation to the National President of CASON, Professor Malami Umar Tambawal who she said was the host of the event.

Professor Malami Umar Tambawal who is also the Vice Chancellor of Shehu Shagari University of Education, Sokoto in his keynote address stated among other things that “the conference is not just an opportunity to address professional matters; it is a grand celebration of our collective commitment to improving the wellbeing of individuals in our nation and World.”

The Vice Chairman of CASON, Delta State Chapter, Comrade (Mrs) Rose Obi in a media interaction with newsmen, thanked God for the huge success of the event just as she appreciated members and guests who came from far and near for the event.

The Usavwre (traditional key) of Etche R Erovie ( traditional administrative unit ) in Uvwie Kingdom , Pharmacist ( High Chief) Rex Eju led two other distinguished chiefs of Uvwie Kingdom to represent HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso JP OON Abe 1, the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom at the colourful event.The conference is a 3 day event.

The emah ( royal) dance of Uvwie and an Ijaw cultural dance entertained at the event.

High point of the event was the cutting of cake by the National President Professor Malami Umar Tambawal
