NUJ Delta Confers Award Of Excellence On Adebayo

Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ), Delta State Council has honoured a veteran journalist, Asiwaju Shola Adebayo with an Award of Excellence for his contributions to the development of journalism in Delta State.
The Chairman of the union in the state, Comrade Churchill Oyowe in his speech before the presentation of the award, disclosed that the former Vanguard and Punch Warri correspondent has been supportive to the union, adding that he donated a huge sum of money towards a yet-to-be launched union’s project.
Continuing, Oyowe said he also offered to sponsor the feeding of those that attended the historic congress at Government House Annex, Agbarha Warri community of Edjeba in Warri South Local Government Area on Wednesday, 21st August, 2024.

An elated Shola Adebayo who donated another huge amount of cash to the union said that the award of excellence was a surprise to him.
Adebayo therefore appreciated the union for the gesture as he promised to continue to be supportive to the union.
The veteran journalist among other things advised that practicing journalists should be up and doing so that they can be relevant in their profession.
He stressed that journalists should not sacrifice their ultimate for their immediate gains in the practice.
He also happily announced the donation of a huge sum of money to the union by a media aide of High Chief Government Ekpemukpolo ( aka Tompolo ).
The congres also played host to Executive Director, Warri, Uvwie Environs Special Areas Development Agency (WUEDA), Chief Hon Godwin Ejiyeren who was later represented by another veteran journalist, Comrade Godwin Okiemute Oradawhe, a retired staff of Delta Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri.
The congress further hosted the Executive Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Hon Isaac Weyinmi Agbateyiniro who was accompanied by the Secretary to Warri South Local Government Council designate, Hon Emmanuel Nunu.

The hosting of these persons witnessed an interactive session.
The Chairman, NUJ Delta State Chapter, Comrade Oyovwi has earlier stated that it was the first time the state congress was held outside the Delta State headquarters, Asaba.
