Popular Journalist, Jacob Zango, Is Dead
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter, has mourned the loss of veteran journalist Jacob Zango, who passed away on Wednesday in Kaduna after a brief illness.
In a statement released on Friday and signed by SWAN Kaduna Secretary Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, Kaduna SWAN Chairman Shehu Abdullahi expressed deep shock and sadness at Zango’s passing.
Abdullahi conveyed his grief, noting that Zango’s death was a profound loss for both him personally and the organization.

“On behalf of all our members and SWAN President Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, who is also from our state, we express our sorrow at the loss of one of our esteemed veterans,” the statement said.
Abdullahi recalled their close relationship during his time at the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), where Zango continued to work until his death.
The statement highlighted that Zango’s extensive experience was particularly valuable to SWAN at this time. SWAN extended its condolences to Zango’s immediate family, KSMC, the Atyap community, the Kaduna State Government, and all his friends and professional colleagues.
“We pray that the Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
